This Kit contains the parts to build two 'Shortt's Patent Platforming' 280mm long. Two sets of 11 brackets and 10 of each slabs, when put together a total run of 560mm can be made.
This style of platform can be dated as far back as 1923. It was widely used in the 1950’s for the 10-car scheme. It was used thought out the 1960’s and beyond.
The Brackets are built separately, and then the Base Plates and Wall Slabs are glued into place. The Coping Slabs are all individual and are glued onto the Brackets with an overhang of 2⅓ mm to give 4”.
The kit has been designed so the modeler can have the Brackets, Base Plates, Wall Slabs and Coping Slabs as a load or a building diorama scene.
To extended the platform back away from the Copping Slab you can use 2mm Mdf or ply suitably supported.
Photos and original works drawing can be found in a wonderful book called Southern Nouveau And The Lineside
Made from MDF. A good quality wood glue is recommended, we use Evo-Stik Wood Adhesive Extra Fast which has a good grab and holds in few minutes.
